Hastur’s Update May 20th, 2013

disappearedOn Wednesday, May 22nd,  I will be running #4–11: The Disappeared

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5. A powerful ally of the Pathfinder Society has disappeared, and no one but the Pathfinders even remembers that she ever existed. Can the PCs discover the fate of their missing associate, or will all memory of her be erased completely from history? Written by Jonathan H. Keith.

Unless a GM wants to volunteer, there will be no game on Wednesday, May 29th, as Dan and I will be recovering from running games at Conduit the weekend before.

On Wednesday, June 5th, I will run ##4–18: The Veteran’s Vault.

While many Pathfinders meet unfortunate fates in their ongoing explorations of the dangerous world of Golarion, some retire with decades’ worth of treasure in their coffers, and their lives still intact. When one such Pathfinder approaches the Grand Lodge with the hidden location of her treasure vault, it falls upon a new generation of Pathfinders to retrieve from within a valuable keepsake. That they can keep anything other than the ex-Pathfinder’s locket makes the assignment all the sweeter.

As always, you can (and should) reserve your seats ahead of time on Warhorn .  If you have any questions, please contact me.

Mists of Mwangi

Tier 1-5

Pathfinders,

Lugizar Trantos recently returned from the Mwangi Expanse and did not report in with the society.  Instead, he went to the Blakros Museum and turned in some of his findings there.  We have not heard from Lugizar since.  Now a fell mist is emanating from the Museum and we would like to repair our relations with the curator by assisting him in dealing with whatever problems are going on in there.  Make us proud and help us gain access to the Blakros family’s artifacts for our research.

Please note that the start time for this is earlier than normal.  We will be starting right after Dragon’s keep opens because of what is going on for a few of our main players.

This will be at the Provo Dragon’s Keep at 10:00 AM on June 1st, 2013. Additional parking is in back. As usual, those signed up on http://warhorn.net/provo-pfs will be guaranteed a seat if they are on time. Available seats are on a first come first serve option after that.

Salutations!

I just got these in! I’ll be giving them out at our major events to GMs, some lucky players (who show great RP skills) and more! (Don’t worry, I got more than six)  .  They’re super pretty!!

Conduit Update: I have Dawn Larsen and Dan Hackley signed up to help me run PFS at Conduit on Saturday. If anyone wants to run a slot or two on Friday afternoon, that would be super awesome. I can probably get you a limited access pass to do so, as well. Contact me if you’re interested!

Murder on the Throaty Mermaid

Tier 1-5

Pathfinders,

We have a dignitary that needs to get to Mordant Spire safely, and there have been threats on his life. We need you to protect him, and uncover any conspiracy that may threaten his life. We unfortunately have to use a disreputable smugglers ship to get him there, but we believe you are capable enough to deal with any situation that may arise.

This will be at the Provo Dragon’s Keep at 11:00 AM on May 18th. Additional parking is in back. As usual, those signed up on http://warhorn.net/provo-pfs will be guaranteed a seat if they are on time. Available seats are on a first come first serve option after that.

Hastur Update and Exciting Annoucements

If you’re a Hastur’s Player, hang tight here…we have a lot to update you on !

First, for those of you who were not able to attend, we have a great, awesome experience yesterday.  We finished up Murder’s Mark.  And, at the request of a player or two, we worked together as a group to focus on RP, and had a great time really getting to know each character in the group.  While this was mostly a ‘dungeon crawl,’ many of the players did a better job of role playing their personalities even when facing danger at every turn.

Yet, the excitement is yet to come!

Next Wednesday, I (Phil) will be running #4–05: The Sanos Abduction
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3–7. The Pathfinders are sent to the Sanos Forest in central Varisia to assist an agent researching the fey who inhabit the remote wood. But like many seemingly routine tasks in a Pathfinder’s adventuring career, the simple support mission quickly turns into an adventure the PCs aren’t soon to forget—presuming they survive. Written by Jerome Virnich.

The following week, I will be running #4–11: The Disappeared
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5. A powerful ally of the Pathfinder Society has disappeared, and no one but the Pathfinders even remembers that she ever existed. Can the PCs discover the fate of their missing associate, or will all memory of her be erased completely from history? Written by Jonathan H. Keith.

But, wait, there’s more!!

goblinOn Saturday, June 8 at 11am, in preparation for Free RPG day, Dan will be running Pathfinder Module: We Be Goblins!
A most unusual adventure for 1st-level goblin characters. The Licktoad goblins of Brinestump Marsh have stumbled upon a great treasure—fireworks! Yet unfortunately for them, the tribe member responsible for the discovery has already been exiled for the abhorrent crime of writing (which every goblin knows steals words from your head). To remedy this situation, the Licktoads’ leader, His Mighty Girthness Chief Rendwattle Gutwad, has declared that the greatest heroes of the tribe must venture forth to retrieve the rest of the fireworks from a derelict ship stranded in the marsh. In order to prove themselves as the Licktoads’ bravest goblins, the PCs must complete a series of dangerous dares, from swallowing bull slugs and braving the dreaded Earbiter to dancing with Squealy Nord himself. Yet even once they’ve proven their mettle, the adventure is just beginning. For the ship in question is far from uninhabited, and Vorka the cannibal goblin would like nothing better than a few tasty visitors…. We Be Goblins! is an adventure for 1st-level characters in which the PCs play a horde of malicious and murderous goblins, written for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and compatible with the 3.5 edition of the world’s oldest RPG. The adventure takes place outside the town of Sandpoint in the Pathfinder campaign setting, but can easily be adapted for any campaign world. It also serves as a preview of Pathfinder Player Companion: Goblins of Golarion, and as an optional prequel to Pathfinder Adventure Path’s upcoming Jade Regent Adventure Path.

The following week on Saturday, June 15th at 11am, for Free RPG day, Dan will be running Pathfinder Module: We Be Goblins Too!
The Licktoads, once the great and fierce goblin tribe in Brinestump Marsh, were defeated by human adventurers! All that remains of the tribe are its four goblin “heroes”—Reta Bigbad the fighter, Chuffy Lickwound the rogue, Poog the cleric of Zarongel, and Mogmurch the alchemist. Homeless and bored, they left their swampy homeland to join the neighboring goblin tribe, the Birdcrunchers. The good news is that the Birdcrunchers are willing to let the goblin heroes join their tribe. The better news is that the Birdcrunchers have heard of these four, and want one of them to become their new chieftain. The bad news is that before the goblins can join, they’ll need to endure a series of dangerous and humiliating tests. Very dangerous. Very humiliating. The worse news is that lately Birdcruncher chieftains have had really short lifespans—they’re being killed by the pet fire-breathing boar of a local ogre who wants the Birdcruncher land as his own. Can the four heroes of the now-dead Licktoad tribe save the Birdcrunchers and, in so doing, become their new leaders? “We Be Goblins Too!” is an adventure for four 3rd-level goblin characters, written for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and compatible with the 3.5 edition of the world’s oldest roleplaying game. The adventure takes place near the coastal town of Sandpoint in the Pathfinder campaign setting, and serves as a sequel to “We Be Goblins,” Paizo’s popular 2011 Free RPG Day adventure!

Hastur’s Game Update

ImageTo help our players get their Shadow Lodge and Lantern Lodge characters up to level 3 to run their retirement scenarios, on May 1st and May 8th, I will be running the module, Murder’s Mark.

An urban mystery adventure for 1st-level characters (2nd level PFS characters can play as well).

Everyone in the fishing town of Ilsurian is excited when the legendary Umbra Carnival rolls into town—even if the show is run by members of the much-maligned Varisian ethnic group. With strange and exotic beasts, scandalous performances, games of chance, and all the other fun of a traveling fair, who could resist such an opportunity for entertainment?

Unfortunately for both the town and the circus, however, entertainment isn’t the only opportunity the carnival presents. Hidden within Ilsurian, a guild of thieves and scoundrels has been waiting for just such an occasion to launch a campaign of theft and murder—leaving the strangers from the circus to take the blame. With tensions mounting between locals and performers, and the body count rising on both sides, it’s up to the PCs to uncover what’s really going on and clear the circus’s name before the entire town erupts in a firestorm of ethnic violence.

Murder’s Mark is an adventure of mystery, illusion, and mob justice for 1st-level characters, written for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and compatible with the 3.5 edition of the world’s oldest RPG. This volume also contains a gazetteer of the traveling Umbra Carnival and a brand-new monster pulled from history and mythology, all of which can easily be adapted for use in any campaign setting.

Kaysville HaJoMaJe Games & Comics Event Wrap Up

Kaysville Event

Salutations!

On Saturday, Phil and Dan went to HaJoMaJe Games & Comics in Kaysville for a New Player and GM event.  We ran two parts of First Steps and then ran a random Season 1 scenario that Phil had on hand.

The group had a blast.  We nearly a dozen players (That came in and out) and two new PFS GMs show up to the event.  It was super exciting.  Dan did a super job of greeting new players and helping a couple of them through their very first games of Pathfinder Society.  And, in case you thought First Steps is a total cake walk, think again!  Our new party nearly experienced a terrible death and the hand of a very hungry undead lovelie!

We want to give a very special thanks to Jason and HaJoMaJe Games & Comics store.  They were a great host site!  Everyone was comfortable and enjoyed the atmosphere provided.

We hope that we’ll hear some reports soon from our new GMs in North of the Salt Lake.  Right now, Venture-Captain Phil is working arranging our next one even further north in Ogden!  Keep checking our blog for the latest updates.
