Winterfest Wrap Up

Salutations!

Our first boon-eligible mega event, Winterfest, was a REAL nail biter from beginning to end.

Brian, Phil and Anthony pose for a quick picture before going back to a nail biting scenario!

Hosted at Dragon’s Keep, the event started promptly at 8am.  For the first two slots, we had 5 GMs and 15 players…just barely enough to meet our goals.  As most of you know, in order to be eligible for boons, we need 15 game sessions at one event.  I saw many players and GMs alike step up to make this happen.  Several GMs took tables at the last minute, and players moved around from things they signed up for.  It was truly a team effort.

In the third slot, we lost a couple of players, and it looked like we may not have enough legal tables running to make it happen.  We ran four tables.  However, as fate would have it, my table finished at 8pm… with another table finishing shortly thereafter.  One of our awesome GM’s proposed to run another game in the last two hours of the event.  We took volunteers and set it up, completing the 15th game as the clock slipped past 10pm.  It was truly remarkable.

There was a lot of great adventuring to be had.  On my second slot, the Pathfinders had a very hard time rooting out a couple from Riddleport who had taken it upon themselves to implicate the Pathfinder Society in a number of crimes around Magnimar.  The final confrontation almost proved fatal as two of the four party members went down, and a TPK seemed all but inevitable.  They were able to rally back at the last minute, and take the enemies out with no fatalities.  We were on pins and needles with each and every roll!

As mentioned before, this was my first five table / boon eligible event, and I certainly learned a lot.  While I believe most people had a really good time, I also received plenty of feedback about certain aspects that might be improved.  For example, it seems pretty unanimous that players would like to see the delivered pizza eliminated in favor of a lower overall ticket price.  However, players and GMs alike really enjoyed the giveaway raffles we did.  It’s still early after the event, so I would love more feedback.

I want to thank the GMs and players who made this even a success in many different ways.  I will work hard to help grow Pathfinder Society and help make future events more exciting.

Yours in Adventuring,

Phil

Avery enjoyable day. My imput on changes would be to keep the same fee, eliminate the pizza and have more prizes for the drawings. Good job overall. Thanks to all of the G.M.’s, good job.

    • Thanks, Cris. I heard a number of people echo the comment about the pizza, so I made the executive decision it is gone from future events :) But, yeah, the prizes are still in. Who doesn’t love prizes?
